Malaysia is a fairly quick and inexpensive bus trip across the border from Singapore. We decided to spend 10 days in this country exploring. Starting off in the well known city of Kuala Lumpur, followed by spending a few nights in the Taman Negara jungle and finishing up our adventure in the historically rich town of Penang.
Kuala Lumpur was a fun city to hop on the free public transportation “GoKL” bus and tour around all the sites and attractions. From seeing the tallest twin towers in the world, the Petrona Towers to walking around the many markets, shopping areas and temples we enjoyed our time here and would come again.
After a few days in the hustle and bustle city atmosphere, we wanted to escape and immerse ourselves in the sounds and sights of the jungle. With Taman Negara being Malaysia’s National Park, we booked ourselves in for 2 nights at the only resort there that is actually in the jungle. Getting there included a 4 hour bus ride followed by a 3.5 hour boat ride. It was definitely an adventure with lots to see and do while there.
And lastly, we took a long bus ride to Butterworth and then a ferry over to Penang. We toured around George Town, rich in cultural and history with an added bonus of cool street art and 3D Murals throughout the streets of the city, which clearly we had a lot of fun with.
