Travelling through Italy to start off our European tour was an incredibly rich experience. The culture, food, architecture, museums, landscapes, history…all beautiful, captivating, inspiring and of course delicious! Rome being the first stop, where we spent 4 incredible days exploring the city completely on foot.
Once finished our 4 day visit in Rome, we rented a car (from Termini train station) and started our road trip with driving south through the Amalfi Coast. Sorrento was the perfect location to sleep as it allowed us to easily visit neighbouring destinations such as Pompeii, Ravello, Amalfi and Positano.
From the coast of Amalfi we drove through the gorgeous countryside of the Tuscany region, spending time in Saturnia, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Siena, Florence and Pisa.
We continued our drive North and returned our rental car to Venice Marco Polo Airport. Then hopped on a water taxi and headed down the Grand Canal to Venice, the famous walking city made up of 117 islands all linked with canals and bridges. Venice was our last stop in Italy, next up: train to Vienna!
