Sadly and surprisingly, we finally departed the Asian continent and began our journey West. Leaving an excellent month of travelling around Bali with Dad and landing in the ancient city of Rome, Italy.
A short 3 night stay and many hours and kilometres of walking later, it was decided: Italy is the S*%T! The architecture in Rome is incredible. Aged and comes with a history unparalleled to anywhere else we have travelled together.
Jumping in a rental car (Fiat 500) and hitting the highway, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast was next on the list. It’s quite fascinating to see how they build cities in amongst the small alcoves along the coast and right into the mountains. Makes for spectacular day trips with great photos, sights and sounds. We even got to sample an authentic Napoli pizza (original home of pizza) before heading north to Tuscany.
Arriving in Florence was quite the drive from the south of Italy. We stopped at the infamous Saturnia Thermal Springs on the way, which we sure are glad we didn’t miss as you’ll see in the photo gallery! Florence boasts some of the most prized artwork anywhere in the world including the Statue of David by Michelangelo, an absolute Masterpiece.
Our journey through Italy concluded in the magical and romantic streets and city of Venice where we spent our final two nights. It was relaxing and enjoyable to walk the city over a two day period while even getting out at night to watch the Interpreti Veneziani, an incredibly talented all string orchestra playing the likes of Vivaldi and Bach in an old church.
We are on our way! Next up: Vienna. Until then, Ciao!
With Love & Light,
